About me

Academic Studies

I studied Mathematics degree at Trinity College, University of Dublin. This is a four year BA Hons. programme and I studied 24 different mathematics courses including Complex and Real Analysis, Game Theory, Topology, Cryptography, the Mathematics of Neuroscience and Fluid Mechanics. It is an academically challenging course and ranks in the top ten maths degrees in the world. I also hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Actuarial Science from the University of Leicester. There were eight modules, including Advanced Statistics, Financial Mathematics, Economics, Accounting & Finance, Mathematical Modelling and Contingencies. I also enjoy learning foreign languages and I speak English, German, Spanish and have a beginner level of French.

Institut Monte Rosa, Montreux, Switzerland

After graduating from Trinity, I accepted a job at Institut Monte Rosa, an exclusive boarding school, located on Lake Geneva in the Swiss Alps. Monte Rosa follows the American Curriculum and during my two years I taught Algebra I, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, SAT Math and AP Calculus. The pastoral care of the students was part of the teaching role. Additionally the teachers helped with the extracurricular and sporting activities, such as extensive skiing all over Switzerland. In my spare time, I learnt French and rode horses.

St. Georges School, Cologne, Germany

I left Switzerland as I wanted to improve my German and I worked for St. Georges International School for three years. I taught the IB Higher Level and iGCSE Maths. I also taught Key Stage 3 to students aged between eleven and fourteen. I completed many road races here including completing the Cologne Marathon.

Swans International School, Marbella, Spain

For the last five years, I have worked at Swans International School in Marbella. I teach IB Higher Level Analysis and Approaches and additionally, an extended essay supervisor. Swans is currently ranked the top-IB school in Spain. As part of my teaching role at Swans I have completed extensive training such as multiple IB courses, including speciality courses in the Internal Assessment, Paper 3 and the Extended Essay. I also teach iGCSE Edexcel Mathematics, at both Higher Level and Foundation Level.

I founded the Swans Scuba Diving Club together with the local diving school Diving With Nic and I am on the committee currently working together with the student council towards being awarded a Green Flag and becoming an accredited Eco School. I also help run the annual ski trip to Sierra Nevada.
